No one likes icebreakers, but here we go

Hi everyone and welcome to Nourish with Robena! This is my first blog post ever and I am SO excited. And nervous. But mostly excited and eager to start this new venture.

But who the hell am I? I’m glad you ask.

If you haven’t put two and two together yet, my name is Robena. I live in Ontario, Canada and I am obsessed with nutrition, fitness, and finding ways to optimize physical and mental well-being. This wasn’t always the case though. After I finished high school in Alberta, I actually went to University of Toronto to complete my first degree in Engineering. I then began my career in IT, doing application development at an energy company.

It was during that time that I began noticing the profound effect of food and exercise on my mental well-being. Fascinated, I immersed myself in learning everything I could on these topics. I took courses, listened to podcasts, read books, got certifications…the whole nine yards. I quickly became driven to help others improve their own lives through nutrition and movement. As much as I enjoyed the career path I had been on for three years at that point, it honestly wasn’t fulfilling and I knew that it wasn’t where my true potential lay.

Quarter-life crisis? Maybe. But I like to think of it as just finding my true calling. I know, I know, potayto, potahto. But I knew I would regret it if I didn’t pursue my passion. So in 2017, I enrolled in a dietetics-accredited nutrition and food program to do my second undergrad. I will be graduating at the end of this summer and starting a Master’s program in the fall with the hopes of officially becoming a Registered Dietitian in 2022!

How does this blog fit into my whole life story rant? Well, I have always wanted to create a platform to share my passion for all things wellness. I know many of you want to take control of your health but with all the overwhelming and conflicting information out there, it’s almost impossible to know who or what to trust. My commitment to you is to share evidence-based information that is simple, easy to understand, and actually relevant to your lives.

With that being said, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you’ve made it to the end, you’re the real MVP. My hope is that we can grow together to become healthier and better versions of ourselves. I would love it if you could comment below who you are and what kind of topics you’d like to see or learn more about!

See you next time!
